Bonus pattern: Marina Sunrise cushion

Those of you who were following our beautiful Cornish Flowers CAL may recognise some of these colours! Zoe Potrac has designed a bonus cushion using the leftover yarn from the pattern – see below. And remember you can find the last two parts of the CAL here.

Yarn used
Stylecraft Special DK: Aster (A), Boysenberry (B), Pomegranate (C), Shrimp (D), Sunshine (E), Citron (F), Cream (G)

About the yarn: DK; 295m per 100g ball; 100% acrylic
Tension: Each motif measures 10cm square
Hooks used: 4mm
Other supplies: 40cm cushion insert
Sizing: 40cm x 40cm

Zoe’s tip
To be more efficient, you may want to work all the round ones first, then pick up and add all the round 2s etc, rather than working one motif at a time.

Special stitches
Puff: (yrh, insert hook, yrh, pul) 3 times, yrh, pull through all loops on hook.
SPtr: spike treble- work treble into row and stitch below as indicated.

Square motif
(make 32)
Rnd 1: In A, working into a magic ring, (puff, 1 ch) 6 times, sl st to first puff to join. 12 sts.
Rnd 2: In B, 1 ch, (2 dc in first st, dc in ch-sp) 6 times, sl st to first dc to join. 18 sts.
Rnd 3: In C, 1 ch, in BLO, (2 dc, 2 dc in next st) 6 times, sl st to join. 24 sts.
Rnd 4: In D, 4 ch (counts as tr and 1 ch), in BLO (2 tr in next st, htr, 2 dc, htr, tr in next st, 1 ch) 3 times, 2 tr in next st, htr, 2 dc, htr, tr, sl st to 3rd of beg 4 ch. 32 sts.
Rnd 5: In E, 4 ch, (*2 tr in corner ch-sp, 2 tr, SPtr in FL of stitch below in rnd 3, 2 tr, SPtr in FL of stitch below in rnd 3, 2 tr,* 2 tr in ch-sp, 1 ch) 3 times, rep from *to*, tr in ch-sp, sl st to 3rd of beg 4 ch to join.
Rnd 6: In F, 1 ch, in BLO, (3 dc in ch-sp, 12 dc) 4 times, sl st to first dc to join.
Rnd 7: In G, 1 ch, in BLO, (dc, 3 dc in next st, 13 dc) 4 times, sl st to first dc to join.
Fasten off and weave in ends.

Making up:
With tapestry needle and yarn G, stitch 16 squares together to form the front and 16 to form the back, place front and back together, stitch around 3 sides, insert cushion, sew the final seam closed.
